Ampknob Fatman

There's nothing like the original

The Fatman is based on a vintage 1950s masterpiece originally designed for bass players. It became the holy grail for guitarists through its ability to put forth tone with immense weight, but not a hint of harshness. It’s like the perfect cup of coffee: it’s warm, complex, gives a kick when pushed, and essential for getting the day started on the right foot. It’s not tight or modern, it’s bouncy and pillowy, with bass that feels like it’s vibrating in your chest. The 4x10 speaker setup offers a thick, woody midrange and sweet, sweet highs, imbuing your guitar sound with vocal-like qualities. This old dog doesn’t need new tricks.

The holy grail

This amp yearns to be pushed. Flick on the included boost pedal and crank the volume knob to drive the amp into creamy and chewy overdrive.  Need more? Use the input slider to truly abuse the circuit and push it into lead tones territory.

Spring and room reverb

Use the reverb knob to add a beautiful, spring reverb and combine it with the ‘Room’ control. With it, you can easily blend in a sense of space and character. For more control over the ambient sounds within the plugin, you can also use the ‘Pan’ control (stereo output only) to pan your main guitar sound separately to the room and reverb.

Guitar and bass cabs

Included are three perfectly matched cabs: a matched one that works as one with the amp, a 4x12 alternative, and a bass cab so you can use the Fatman as a bass amp or a uniquely voiced guitar amp. You also get the option of loading up your favorite IR from the Bogren IR packs or any other IR of your choice.

PLUG IN, ROCK OUT

As with all Bogren Digital’s Ampknob series plugins, the three Ampknob BDM plugins are extremely easy to use and provide a distraction-free path to album-ready sounds. Jens Bogren has poured his 20+ years of experience into crafting sounds that just work, allowing you to focus on the music.
