Irradiated Synth Textures.

Pripyat is our first foray into the world of synthetic textures, funnelled through our idiosyncratic approach to sampling and sound design. With a focus on the cold and industrial character of some of our favourite synth heavy scores, we derived the main source material from electromagnetic interference recorded at an electrical substation and unstable vintage analog synths processed by custom-made guitar pedals and eurorack modular.

These radioactive soundscapes are sure to add a new dimension to your palette — inspiring you and breathing new life into your music.

The Story of Pripyat

At the core of Pripyat is our desire to present a collection of electronic textures with our unique aesthetic and take full advantage of our cutting-edge sound design engine MNDALA 2. The library features brutal electromagnetic interference, normally inaudible to the human ear - both in its pure form and re-amped through various acoustic resonators, warbling vintage analog synthesizers processed through various guitar pedals and Eurorack modular effects, and clamorous ultrasonic recordings of dry ice on a rare Marimbaphone and a Bombo drum, as well as additional percussion sounds.Within our proprietary MNDALA 2 engine, the source material is vastly expanded, allowing you to create deeply textured soundscapes, as well as go-to synth basses, pads, leads, and FX. Our team of experienced sound designers have created a collection of 60 presets to get you started right out of the box, so whether you’re looking for quick inspiration or a complex sound design environment, there's something for you.To intuitively control the complex array of back-end parameters in real-time we created an interactive animated scene inspired by retro soviet poster art, allowing you to intuitively ‘play’ Pripyat like a physical instrument.

Our approach to creating revolutionary instruments

Continuous play and the pushing of creative boundaries are foundational to our instrument creation process. Rather than trying to recreate true-to-life instruments, we choose to experiment and go off the beaten track, in search of a new kind of virtual instrument.

Inspired by the natural world and ancient knowledge from around the world, we embrace expressive (im)perfections. Performing and recording instruments using experimental methods to create sounds like you’ve never heard before.

From our bespoke extreme-quality recording method using ultrasonics, to our constant experimentation with unique workflows and sound sources, each Instrument we release is a playable manifestation of our exploratory journey.

During our sampling process, the subtleties and imperfections of live human performance are embraced and encouraged. Depending on the final intent, we will creatively post-process as little or as much as needed (sometimes beyond recognition), always making sure that the soul and character of the performance is intact once it’s been implemented as one of our expressive playable instruments.
